Cape Cod Caper: 'Play the Edge' Snags Liz Larsen, Dennis Boutsikaris & Zack Robidas

Big casting move

Liz Larsen, Dennis Boutsikaris and Zack Robidas are set to headline Play the Edge, the follow-up from director Peter Horgan (who made the indie thriller How to Rob). They’ll lead an ensemble that also features Lance A. Williams, Katie Silverman and Josh Koopman.

Plot in a nutshell: pizza, a lottery ticket and a very bad timing

The movie centers on a demoted pizza chef who cooks up a revenge plan: hire armed robbers and stage a Christmas Eve heist to stick it to his boss. Plot twist — he hits the jackpot on a lottery ticket just as the crew he hired shows up. Cue panic, second-guessing and a frantic attempt to stop a crime that’s already rolling.

Where it’s happening

Production will take place on Cape Cod, with a focus on Chatham’s historic Orpheum movie theater and the nearby Pizza Shark spot — the kind of local-flavor locations that give indie capers personality and a little New England charm.

Behind the camera

Play the Edge is produced by Becca E. Davis, Mike Hansen and Kathrene Gawel, with Ian Brownell, Todd Remis and two of the film’s stars serving as executive producers. Horgan’s first film had a similar gritty-meets-wild vibe: How to Rob followed a two-man crew pulling jobs on criminals from Boston to Cape Cod, only to become targets themselves.

Why this one’s fun to watch

This sounds like holiday-movie chaos meets dark comedy — a pressured protagonist, moral second chances, and plenty of moments where timing (and terrible decisions) drive everything. Expect laughs, tense face-offs and a few awkwardly unclothed-moment-free surprises played for laughs, not titillation.

Quick industry notes

On the business side, the cast’s reps include CESD Talent Agency for Larsen, AKA Artists for Boutsikaris and Buchwald for Robidas. Other reps for the ensemble were also involved as the project moved forward.
