Prime Video just rolled out the first look at The Devil’s Mouth, and it’s basically a masterclass in how to ruin a getaway. Picture a group of young adventurers, a network of half-submerged caves, and some very determined sharks — that’s the gist. Who’s in the panic party?
The cast includes Kathryn Newton, Lana Condor, Nico Hiraga, Gavin Casalegno, Tommi Rose, and Tayme Thapthimthong, so expect plenty of chemistry (and screaming). Behind the camera is Jeff Wadlow, with the project backed by Amazon MGM Studios, Lionsgate, and Thunder Road Films.
Why it feels familiar (in a good way)
If you got a twinge of Deja vu watching the trailer, that’s intentional — the setup has obvious echoes of the 47 Meters Down films: cramped, waterlogged caverns and the lovely threat of hungry sharks. But the trailer promises its own brand of tension, focusing on survival instincts and characters pushed to their limits.
What the trailer sells
Expect tight, breathless sequences, sudden shocks that aim for your bladder, and moments of frantic teamwork (or glorious failure). It’s less about subtle nuance and more about whether you can outswim panic — with an emphasis on suspense over gore.
